Ask Subnet: Is there a Growing Demand for Fiber Optics Personnel?
Hello! It’s been a while since we last posted on our blog. As a comeback gift to our followers, we are coming up with a new segment called “Ask SubNet” wherein we will be devoting a blog entry in answering each of your queries. Hence, this will be like an expanded Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) with corresponding answers, of course. Are you ready? Feel free to ask us anything, anytime.
For this week, we will discuss one of the most common questions we get from students taking our fiber optics training courses:
“Will we ever get a job after this?”
The answer is very simple though; it is an astounding YES.
However, SubNet Services will not be the one providing it to our students. What we can do is to recommend and prioritize referral of our students to our partner recruitment agency and clients looking for fiber optics personnel. Who will we recommend first other than our own students? But of course, opportunities are everywhere. It is up to the students to look for it or wait for it.
According to an IT and leadership training provider in the US (Infotec), “The future of the internet is fiber optic. The demand for bandwidth and internet access to remote areas continues to soar so will the need for qualified technicians to install these cables.”
The Bureau of Labor Statistics of the United States also saw a positive development in the industry in the upcoming decade, stating that
“Overall employment of line installers and repairers is projected to grow 8 percent from 2016 to 2026, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Job opportunities should be best for those with good technical and mechanical skills.”
In support, a report developed by TechClass.Academy (a one-stop shop for creating, selling, and managing courses) showed that there is clear demand for Fiber Optics Installers and Technicians. Check the Fiber Optics Cabling: Job profiles, market demand, Training and Certification needs for more comprehensive information.
Moreover, one of the largest and most extensive website for education seekers (study.com) was optimistic about the future of the industry.
“Positions for fiber network technicians will be highly competitive in the coming years. Prospective professionals should have extensive knowledge of telecommunications technology, strong communication skills and a willingness to keep pace with a constantly evolving industry.”
In fact, many fiber optics personnel are happy with their positions. Read our students success stories and be inspired. Even PayScale (an American website providing information about salary, benefits, and compensation information) says, “The majority of Fiber Optic Technicians claim high levels of job satisfaction”.
In conclusion, getting trained in fiber optics is a wise thing to do that will land you in-demand jobs locally. Choosing a Fiber Optic Association (FOA) approved school is a wiser choice for both local and global work opportunities. As the only FOA approved school in Metro Manila, SubNet Services is proud to be the training school you are looking for.
