SubNet Services

SubNet Services takes high pride in knowing that our students are successful in their chosen industries and have been able to utilize their training in their respective fields. As a training school, we are grateful and honoured to feature another student’s success story in this blog post.

After my training with SubNet, a lot of things have changed. That includes my perspective at the things that I usually overlook like safety and using the proper equipment.

This was the statement of Lorenzo James O. Usi, former Certified Fiber Optics Technician (CFOT) student at SubNet Services who currently works as a TechXpert at SKY Cable. TechXperts refer to a specialized, highly-trained crew that completes home Internet setups ranging from modem configuration to extensive cabling work.*

The training was very beneficial because it helped me improve my overall understanding of the fiber optics field. I can now speak about fiber optics with confidence.

Thus, he dubbed his SubNet training as very excellent for he has learned many things and it has enhanced his current knowledge on the field. Even SubNet’s fiber optics training instructor, Ms. Prescy Acero pointed out the importance of safety in the field.

Safety in the lab and on the job site must be emphasized to the students to prevent possible accidents that may occur when working with optical fibers. Most of the people working in the field are not aware of the danger caused by mishandling the fibers. As part of the termination and splicing process, fiber optic technicians are exposed to small scraps of bare fibers, which are more dangerous than the light from the laser sources.

She added that imposing strict safety rules in performing these activities are highly important and should be followed. For this reason, even the Fiber Optics Association (FOA) has compiled these safety rules in fiber optics.

When finally asked for his opinion about the fiber optics industry in general, Lorenzo was only optimistic.

Fiber optics is booming because it is the future medium for data transferring.
